A new staff member has been recruited

To help support the roles of other staff in the department an Office Junior has just been employed.

You now have to sit down with this person and negotiate an individual employment contract that protects the commercial interests of the organisation, aligns with its goals and intentions, is legally compliant and incorporates personal requirements of this new staff member.

Even though this person is being employed as an Office Junior, their needs and wants must be taken into consideration in-line with organisational objectives and policies.

Prepare an employment contract for an individual staff member

  • Obtain a copy of a standard employment contract template as per the modern award (available from Fair Work Australia or a number of commercial websites, free-of-charge) to use as the basis for this task
  • Obtain a copy of relevant awards and agreements
  • Prepare an employment contract for the above mentioned position

There is a request for an enterprise agreement

To help you expand the services of your department to meet the requirements of the new organisational goals the HR department have successfully recruited three full-time technicians with suitable security qualifications and relevant experience with CCTVs and systems.

These new employees have indicated they want to be employed under a single-enterprise agreement and you have been asked by management to negotiate this instrument.

As a standard part of your Induction and Orientation program you need to provide these new employees with job-relevant information to welcome them to the business and provide them with important operational and organisational information.

  1. Deliver induction and staff training.

You are required to conduct a presentation lasting between 15-20 mins in which you:

  • Provide induction information to a new staff member who is joining your department in the role identified above.
  • Deliver training that develops their competence in accessing information stored on a computer.
  • Deliver training that promotes and demonstrates safe work practices for computer use.
  • Deliver information that explains how their role helps the organisation attain its higher-level goals.
